Preparing for your appointment
01
Do not wax your tattoo placement
Waxing tears the top layer of your skin and opens up hair follicles. This trauma to the skin makes it more inflamed and increases the risk of infection. If you wish to shave the area you’re getting tattooed, go ahead. If you forget, don’t worry. Shaving the skin where you want the tattoo is a part of my preparation process.
02
Eat well + hydrate before your session
Make sure you’re drinking plenty of water beforehand and eat a meal 1-3 hours before your appointment to stabilize blood sugar. Without food, the physical stress of getting tattooed can cause your blood pressure to drop, which can cause dizziness, feeling shaky, experiencing nausea, or fainting.
03
Wear correct clothes
Wear dark colors and loose, comfortable items to prevent ink from accidentally staining your favorite pair of white pants and ensure comfort while sitting during your appointment. Girls who are getting spine or back tattoos: wear a loose-fitting zip-up or a loose button-up.
04
Come with proper hygiene
Please arrive to your appointment with clean, freshly washed skin. I recommend showering the day of your appointment (or the night before) and paying extra attention to the area being tattooed. This is especially important for tattoos near intimate or sensitive areas. Good personal hygiene helps keep the tattooing environment clean, comfortable, and respectful for both you and me.
05
Do not drink alcohol or take painkillers
Please abstain from injesting Alcohol, ibuprofen, and Advil at least 1 day before the session. These are blood thinners and can cause excessive bleeding during your appointment, which can push the ink out and blur lines.
06
Don’t come sunburnt
Before our session, please don’t get a sunburn. This damages your skin, making the texture uneven and tight, and can start to peel. It will also cause you severe pain; the skin is already inflamed. The skin barrier is also compromised, so this increases the risk of infection. Sunburnt skin can’t retain the ink properly, which results in patchy work or blurred lines. So, long story short, don’t come in burnt!!
