Aftercare
01
Keep your tattoo covered
Second Skin (transparent adhesive film) is used after you get tattooed unless you are allergic to the adhesive. If you are allergic to Second Skin, Saran Wrap will be used instead. Leave the Second Skin on for 3-5 days. If it starts to peel before the recommended days or dirt/liquid gets in, take it off to prevent infection.
02
Wash your tattoo
Once it is time to remove your covering, wash your hands before touching your tattoo. Run the Second Skin over warm water (I recommend taking it off in the shower). Gently wash your tattoo with a fragrance-free soap using only your hands. I recommended Dial antibacterial soap. Do not exfoliate the area. Gently pat it dry with a clean paper towel.
03
Moisturize properly
Once your tattoo is clean and completely dry, apply a thin layer of Aquaphor or unscented lotion. Your tattoo should not look excessively greasy or wet, and you should avoid heavily fragranced products or anything that irritates your skin. Do not moisturize more than 2-3 times a day.
04
Avoid water, sun & friction
Do not submerge your tattoo in water while it is healing, including swimming pools, lakes, oceans, baths, hot tubs, and saunas. Avoid direct sunlight, excessive sweating, and tight clothing that rubs against your tattoo, and do not apply sunscreen until your tattoo is fully healed.
05
Let your tattoo heal naturally
Itching, flaking, peeling, and dryness are normal parts of the healing process, so allow your tattoo to heal naturally. Do not pick, scratch, peel, or pull at your tattoo, even when it becomes itchy; this can interfere with the healing process and affect the final appearance of your tattoo.
06
Watch for problems & when to contact me
Some redness, swelling, tenderness, and mild oozing can be normal right after getting tattooed, but keep an eye on your tattoo as it heals. If you notice anything unusual or concerning, please contact me and seek medical attention if you experience signs of infection or a severe reaction.
